Digital gas mass flow controllers use a thermal measurement principle in many common designs. Flow changes the heat transferred through a sensing passage; the instrument processes that signal to measure mass flow and, for an MFC, regulate a valve.
Typical design features described in the archive include a bypass/split-flow structure, suitable warm-up behavior, electronic readout, and integration with a compatible display or host system. Pressure suitability, response, accuracy and resistance to contamination depend on the model and the operating conditions.
A gas mass-flow measurement does not require the same volume correction as an uncorrected volumetric reading, but a thermal instrument is not unaffected by every pressure or temperature change. Use it within its validated range and confirm gas/calibration settings. An MFM measures flow only; an MFC adds active regulation.

Flowmethod designs, develops, manufactures and supports gas mass flow controllers, meters and custom gas-control and mixing systems. Configurations are matched to the customer's process and operating requirements.
